the carillon of Bourbourg

Built in 1548, the carillon has undergone several renovation operations, the last dated from 1960.

Since 2008, the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Bourbourg has a carillon of 50 bells, which vibrate under the blows of the carillon installed in his glass booth. The new instrument combines both tradition and modernity: an automatic system to pneumatic cylinders used to activate the chimes in the absence of the bell ringer.

Renaissance of carrillon Bourbourg has been possible thanks to the will of Sir Francis Bassemon Mayor of Bourbourg and dynamysme Association to renovate the carillon.

This time, the changes are more substantial: they include the provision of access facilities, repair of roof ornaments (made by the company Paschal) and the supply and installation of keyboard studies, and finally the manufacture of new bells PACCARD, cast in Annecy.

Every Tuesday morning, a concert runs the local market, the public can then, on the occasion of the visit, observe the instrumentalist. Now the chime to the rhythm of singing jingles automatic, and under the fists of ringers at concerts.

Every quarter of the clock, the chimes entamme a different jingle.
